In confirmation of my telegram

of the 28th. instant, I have the honour to inform Your

Lordship that Mr. J. T. Longstaff, Overseer, Public Works,

Department, has tendered his resignation with effect from

31st. May next. I therefore telegraphed to Your Lordship

as per copy of telegram enclosed.

I forward herewith particulars in

duplicate of the vacant office and I would ask Your Lord-

-ship to note that the successor appointed should be

capable of supervising the erection of important Public

Buildings and should be carefuuly selected.

3.

I shall be glad if the vacancy may

be filled with as little delay as possible.
